We’re a family owned
and operated business. We started out as two, expanded to five,
but the boys are all grown now and blazing their own trails.
Formerly working in the film business in Montreal, Pierre met
Tove, a western gal, and followed his heart to B.C. What do
you do in B.C.? Huntin’, fishin’, loggin’
and… tourism.
Filled with the spirit of adventure, Pierre and Tove applied
for work at Echo Bay, a remote wilderness resort located in
the Broughton Archipelago of B.C. and accessible only by boat
or plane. Echo Bay? Where’s that? Let’s go!!! That
was in 1978.
We worked at various resorts and logging camps in the area,
doing everything from running the resorts in off-season, the
post office, the store, the bar, unloading freight boats in
the middle of the night, fueling boats and planes, cooking,
construction and camp handyman!
Our boys attended a one room school. Pierre also ran a school
boat, picking up students in all the nooks and crannies and
bays along the way.
One day, Pierre had a vision. Pointing to a pile of graying,
silver logs tied up behind our float house, Pierre sighed dreamily,
“Look at that! All that’s mine!” Thus, the
birth of Pierre’s Bay Lodge & Marina.
In 2008 Pierre partnered up with Jerome and Lucy Rose and together they bought Echo Bay and created a wonderful new destination: Pierre’s at Echo Bay.
